I kinda have to agree with one of the posters that it's not good for PS3 if the xbox 360 were to get Blu Ray, espcailly if let's say Toshiba started making those Blu Drives for the 360. Where would that put the PS3? Yeah it might be good for Blu Ray, but it's definitely not good for Sony.

I think the xbox having a BD drive would further highlight the advantages that the PS3 has. Can you imagine when the comparisons articles start?

I would be good for sony... they have a huge investment in BD and need it to succeed. The Playstation isn't going anywhere....

Bill Gates actually admits in a round about way that he is in this to destroy hd discs. We all saw this coming, but never thought that he would admit that he's in this to kill it. Devious SOB.
If he were to go blu-ray it would just be in effort to sabotage and destroy it. He actually thinks that people want to download movies that you get to erase to make room for others, or that are lost with hardware failure. I hate that idea.

Wait...what. Not going anywhere? They've sold approx. 6 million of them worldwide and have released less than 10 good games so far, including 3rd party. How many PS2s have been sold? I think around 30m. Most of these people will end up with PS3s eventually. Especially with Xbox 360s failing at an unprecedented rate for video game systems.

Yeah, like I said though it would be good for Blu Ray but bad for Sony I think. Sony as a company, how does sony benefit? Through Sony Studios when they buy Blu Ray Films from Sony? I think not... Like I said good for Blu Ray, bad for Sony.

Well old Bill Gates needs to get the bandwidth up to speeds where I can download a movie in like 5 seconds and I can burn it and I can own it... and it needs to look as good as blu-ray, but then I won't have a nice cover for it or a nice blu-ray box, so no thanks old Billy Boy I will keep buying Blu-Ray....

I have to agree with the poster when he stated that Tosh and M$ will probably not go for it, because they will have to pay a bit of money to Sony. In honesty, M$ and Tosh might actually take the gesture of goodwill as a slap in the face. The problem is with M$, if they admit defeat, they will not be M$--when have we ever heard Bill Gates or anyone else from the company admit that they have actually FAILED BIG TIME. And as the guy stated in his post, they would be turning their backs on so many LOYAL supporters--which includes the consumers...it's like Sony turning their back on us--not funny people. So, although it gives us something to think about, I don't know that this gesture will be more than a laugh to either company. Although I'm holding to hope that someone will come to their senses.

I think he meant "not going anywhere" as - not leaving - and not -not catching on-

also the number of PS2s is much much much larger then that 30M was back in 2002 and 100M in 2005

It'd be great for Sony, the PS3, Blu-ray, and most importantly the gaming industry IMO. On the the issues that keeps on coming up with 360 developtment is the lack of storage capacity and gaurenteed HDD support.
