Let's be real, it's hard to get a PS5, still, so it's a case of software developers wanting to sell as much of their software as possible, so if they can scale it to last gen, why would they not. They don't technically need to care about generations.

Well, "Next Generation is here" is technically like saying Current Generation.
From a business point of view, I totally understand why we're getting a prolonged period of cross-generation games for both PS4 and PS5, not really taking advantage of what PS5 can "really do". 4K resolution is costly for sure, and twice the scale of a 1080p game at 1920 x 1080 pixels. 4K being 3840 x 2160. Rendering out one frame would take twice as long or twice as much power minimum. With that in mind, it's looking like the limits are showing up early of what the PS5 can do. Mostly a balancing act of cutting features like raytracing and resolution for the sake of 60 fps versus 30 fps. Now Sony's Mark Cerny is applying for patents for a PS5 Pro before most people above 6 million (half of 13 million with the other half still in the hands of greedy resellers) even have a PS5 yet. PS5 is not as powerful as Dana Carvey, I mean Mark Cerny, was hyping it up to be with his over-hyped SSD speech. [Show spoiler]

You'd be a mug to not release on the PS4 for at least the next 18 months.

Today's games are designed to take full advantage of the hardware in the new consoles. If you wish to play the latest games, you will need to upgrade your machine. The previous-generation versions of these new games are stripped-down versions for those who still have yet to upgrade. Also, Apex Legends is a 2019 game (the new consoles came out in 2020).

The term is relative. Gaming releases have not primarily moved over to PS5 only and until that happens, its perfectly fine to still refer to it as next gen. EVERYONE knows what is being meant by that. Its really not that confusing. There is far more overlap today then there was back when the terms current-gen or next-gen were originally thrown around. Concepts evolve and this has

I still have a PS4 Pro, the PS5 reminds me of "Pro" upgrade over the regular PS4, but with a lot more benefits in its current state.
I don't feel like I am missing a great deal at the moment, but I'm holding off some games until I do get a PS5. With the exception of Gran Turismo 7 which has been entertaining. I bought an Xbox Series X last week because Wal-Mart had it in stock for over a while and I bought 2 years of GPU with the Gold to Ultimate upgrade. I am keeping an eye open to buy a PS5 now to get it as soon as I can find one. Still, playing Forza Horizon 5 or some of the other games that were enhanced for "next-gen," it is clear that this gen has not been fully utilized. Developers likely had to stop working on Next Gen games to for a while. Although I wouldn't mind seeing a difference where the PS5 shows a big difference to the PS4, like the old days of seeing an Arcade game and then a Sega Genesis or SNES port. Developers did amazing things with the CPU the PS4 had, I believe they can develop amazing things once they fully use the power of the Ryzen CPU, the new GPU and truly develop games around the SSD without any backwards compatibility consider. |

But I agree, the PS5, currently at this time, is like the next version, the PS4 Pro 2.0 released in November 2020. Faster loading, 60 fps and 4K with raytracing features! Aside from that, the games still feel like PS4 games but enhanced with the PS4 Pro 2's power/PS5. Good points about the days when the differences were drastic between generations. Now things have advanced so far graphically with the PS4 era, that the PS5 doesn't have very far to go. The artists and developers were already great for PS4, which was a very capable console. |

![]() Another reason I bought an Xbox again is because the online servers for Watch Dogs 1 are down on the PC and Playstation, they are only working on Xbox for the Online Hacking. I don't think Ubisoft will make much effort to fic the issue and I still need to have my fix of that game mode ![]() Along with the studios you mentioned, MLB The Show 22 will be available with Game Pass on release date, so I can play it without having to buy the game. Although I generally enjoy the UI of the Playstation more and the first party studio games from Sony. The options are good though. I am really looking forward to trying the Dual Sense 5 controller as I am genuinely interested in how it feels with the game play. Astro's Playroom is going to be the first game I play and I have Ranchet & Clank already as it looks like it takes full use of the SSD. I do hope I can find a PS5 for sell this week or in the next few weeks. I am trying to stay up to date on availability now. Fingers crossed. |

Dual Sense is better than just rumble, though my favorite aspect would be when firing weapons, you have resistance and then the trigger eases up after it engages. As far as driving, I tend to reduce or shut off any resistance when driving with the triggers. In Horizon 2, there is so much feedback for many parts of the game, it actually put the controller through a lot so I tamed that down too, to only respond to the haptics more than the rumbles. Yes, Astrobot PS5 is a great example of DS. Best success with your goal to get a PS5 in stores. Definitely a challenge but hopefully they have more arriving asap. |

Duel sense is a game changer for me. Literally. I tried it out on GTA online it was so good I did the thing I said I'd never do and bought GTA5 again. Driving from inside the car feels so good with resistance for the pedals and feeling the bumps in the road.
Maybe I'll finish GTA5 now. |

Key word here is was.
Ratchet & Clank is a 9th gen game. If you told me something like “I cannot wait for the Next-Gen Ratchet & Clank game!” I would immediately take that as I cannot wait for the PS6 game. Generations are important if you at all care about the future of consoles. They push the Medium forward. Heck PC gaming, PlayStation, Xbox wouldn’t even exist to the degree they do now if Nintendo back in the 80’s never made a console. Exclusives push the boundaries of a console until they max out it’s limits. Then they work to improve those limitations in the “Next-Gen” console. Calling a current gen game “Next-Gen” is fine until an actual game has achieved that status. Calling a Re-Master Next Gen or a Last Gen port is baffling to me. It tells me there is 0 desire to improve upon what we already have. |
