Ooh, another Searchlight movie not getting a theatrical release. Good job, Disney!

Love seeing Daisy become a movie star in real time!! I’m sure she’ll be absolutely brilliant in this as always! So weird hearing her with an American accent though lol! Can’t wait to see the movie! Looks great!

Drops on HULU within a couple hours, certified fresh on RT at 83%. Looks like a mighty interesting romantic drama/horror film.
I will watch Sebastian Stan in just about anything. |

This was really good. Didn’t know much about it other than the good reviews. I loved every second of it. For once, a straight to streaming film delivers. Will watch again.
This is a wild good and disturbing time. |

I think so before Disney bought Fox. It’s legit. This new woman who directed it, Mimi something did a heck of a job. I believe the Director of Photography did Midsommar and Heredity as well.
I can see why Stan and Edgar Jones were attracted to this. |

Yeah, it's depressing what Disney has done of 20th Century. The interview with the new studio head about what the new iteration of the studio actually looks was even more depressing.

This was quite good. It was more psychological than I expected but it was a welcome surprise. Don’t get me wrong, they don’t skimp on the red stuff at all and it definitely gets disturbing at times, but it was very nice to watch a horror film that can be both violent but smart at the same time with some nice layers to the story. The gore isn’t there just for the sake of it and it creates a nice impact, both for the shock leading to the suspense as well as at a more emotional level. The last act was also quite tense, end-of-your-seat, and suspenseful. Acting was great from both leads. The style was quite refreshing for the film too and the darker humor worked. Sebastian Stan is off his rocker in this one but it makes his character… interesting.
Definitely recommend watching it if you enjoy a stylish horror film with some interesting psychological elements. Again, shame this didn’t hit cinemas. It’s streaming, so not an ideal medium to watch a film, but being completely digital the compression on the picture held up for the most part. The filmmakers really knew how to do a lot with a lower budget and the HDR really accentuated that. I was able to watch it in Dolby Atmos as well and while not mind blowing it still made it sound better than a traditional 5.1 mix could (the Dolby Atmos logo appears at the end so it seems this has a native Atmos sound mix). Hopefully an indie label will pick it up later down the line for a 4K disc release. Last edited by samlop10; 03-05-2022 at 07:06 AM. |
