Default PS3 Power Cable Upgrade

Would upgrading the power cable of the PS3 provide any added benefit to the unit as as a Blu-ray Disc player? I've read about the benefits of discarding factory power cables and upgrading to heavier-duty models, but does this fact remain true for the PS3?

A power cable is used to turn on the PS3......nothing more. You may have to upgrade your PS3 firmware as it tells you automatically, thats about it. But with the power cable? It shouldn't be necessary because I haven't upgraded mine at all and still looks the same and hasn't given me any problems.

Thumbs up

Upgrading PS3 power cable is a way to improve the video and sound quality of the player without modifying the machine itself. Currently I connect my PS3 with Siltech SPX-30 Classic Mk 2 power cable to the A/C main. The result is dramatic. The picture is brighter and sharper and the sound is much clearer. Overall quality is comparable to that of standalone blu-ray player.

You can stay with the original power cable, but the real difference is putting it through an UPS, to prevent power spikes and surges, it also "cleans" the electricity going into the UPS.
