Default Dutch (1991)

Dutch Blu-ray

Dutch Blu-ray Review

Dutch was written by the late and great John Hughes, directed by Peter Faiman and stars Ed O'Nell, a young Ethan Embry, Christopher McDonald and JoBeth Williams.

Be prepared for some Ed O'Neill comedic awesomeness as his character, Dutch Dooley, decides to pick up his girlfriend's spoiled rich son from prep school for a male bonding road trip home for the holidays that goes disastrously astray.

This is the movie that got me into collecting movies back in 7th Grade. One day I was bent on getting myself a copy of Dutch. I religiously went to the local used video store every weekend for years looking for Dutch on VHS and then later on DVD once that format came out. I was unable to find it until mom ordered it for me on DVD for Christmas my senior year of High School.

Release Date: 17 January 2012

Ya know, this is one of my favorite comedies, and I had no clue that was Ethan Embry that played Doyle! Haha.

One of my all time favorites! Made even funnier during Married With Children when Al was in a video store and walked past Dutch on the "free, take one" cart.

Dutch was allright but, I would much rather have Weird Science on Blu ray. John Hughes is forever the king of teen comedy!

Not to be a party pooper...but the kid who played Doyle is Ethan RANDALL...not Ethan EMBRY. Great movie, though.

I don't know if I'll buy it right away as January is loaded (after an already loaded December), but I'll be buying this for sure at some point either way.

I'm sure that will come at some point. It would be a huge surprise if it didn't.

No, Ethan Randall is Ethan Embry. He changed his last name to Embry a few years after doing Dutch.

Yup, plus you can tell it's him, just in his facial expressions.

That said, I thought the movie was alright. I'm prob the world's biggest Married with Children fan, so I had high hopes for this movie. It didn't knock it out of the park for me, but I still like it and will get it. Nothing more awkward than hearing Al Bundy drop the F-bomb. LOL!

Dutch: "Excuse me, I understand what you were saying to Natalie was personal. Well, I'm involved with her now so this is personal too; you hurt her and I'll hit you so f***ing hard your dog will bleed, okay?"

Doyle: "We have a very big problem here."

Dutch: "I suppose we do. I have a problem because I told your mother I'd pick you up. And you have a problem because the last guy that punched me has a dent in his forehead the size of my pinky ring, and he dribbles when he smiles."
I LOVE this movie. It's a yearly watch for me during the Holidays. So I am very pleased about the Blu-ray Release!!
