# Adding to Blu-ray's momentum was the gradual increase in sales of Sony's PlayStation 3 home video-game console, which also works as a Blu-ray player. Sony has sold 10.5 million PS3 machines worldwide since the machine went on sale late 2006.

thats alot of of ps3's, its gonna go up from here with the AAA games coming this year.

with all the triple A titles that are coming out exclusively for the ps3 this year, id go as far as to say that the ps3 can hit 20mil consoles sold by the end of december

They can hit 40 mil by year-end if they lower their price to $249.99 ... it's in their hand now

there gonna sell alot more than 10.5 this year. considering Blu-ray has now just won, many people sitting on the sidelines will now be looking for high-def players and will most likely pick up a PS3. also there are at least twice as many AAA titles coming out this year than the last so alot of gamers waiting for such titles will be picking up the PS3 as well
My prediction for 2008 will be 10-11 milliion more sold.
EDIT: wow i just realized that my prediction means Sony needs to sell about 1mil consoles per month.

well in november and december ther guaranteed to sell 2million worlwide for each month.

yeah, ur right. i always forget about those increased holiday sales. maybe i should have kept my first prediction before i edited which was 14-15mil

The PS3 is gaining momentum. The games that are coming this year will only help. Oh yea, not to mention that this format war is over

as awesome as the ps3 is already, look whats to come within a year and a half of just some games, Socom Confrontation, Metal Gear 4, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2, Haze, God Of War 3, Resistance 2, Tekken 6, Final Fantasy 13, The Getaway 3, Eyedentify, 8 Days, Infamous, etc, man I thought blu-ray whipped the crap out of hd-dvd, you could add the 360 and wii titles coming out this year and still not match that line-up, now thats funny
