Default bitstream

can blu-ray audio only be sent via bitstream through an hdmi cable, or can it also be sent through analouge RCA cables. I ask because i would like to connect a blu ray player to the tv via hdmi and to the receiver via analouge but i also want to be able to bitstream dtshdma and dolby true hd.

What player and receiver do you have? (didn't you buy a 605 recently?)

i sure did, and i couldnt be happier, nice to see that you remembered. Right now i have a ps3, but i want to upgrade to a standalone player that can bitstream both next gen audio formats. I want to connect the hdmi to the tv because i dont want to have to turn on the receiver if i want to put a movie in.

ok, let's see here.... that's really a tough one. I think you'll have to make a sacrifice one way or another, prioritize and go from there.

1) HDMI to tv, optical to receiver (no Lossless audio)
2) HDMI to receiver and TV (have to have receiver on... but with the 605 you can pass the audio through to the tv so the 605 can be turned down to zero)

If/when you go this route, you could go analog out of the back of the Panny to the receiver...
