Default Why HD-DVD owners shouldn't be reimbursed.

Why i don't believe hd-dvd owners should be reimbursed for their poor investment.

the way i see it is there are essentailly 5 kinds of hd-dvd owners:

1) M$ fanboys/Sony haters.
these people bought into hd-dvd because of either a blind love for M$, or simply out of spite for sony. being a fanboy of anything is foolish, and a fool and his money soon part. no reimbursement deserved there.

2) People who knowingly bought into a dying format.
these people knew the facts and arguments and still bought into hd-dvd, likely because it was cheaper. these people only think about short-term and invested accordingly. sure they may have saved a bit of money initially, but the short-term has ended and now they feel like fools, and a fool and his money soon part. no reimbursement deserved there.

3) People who ignorantly bought into a dying format.
these are people who walked into bestbuy and believed whatever the moron floorstaff told them (maliciously or not). i do feel a small amount of pity for these people, but when you're about to invest hundreds/thousands of dollars on something it is foolish to NOT do some kind of research, and a fool and his money soon part. no reimbursement deserved there.

4) Impatient people.
these people are die-hard matrix fans or die-hard bourne fans and bought into hd-dvd just for them. i want bourne too, but i can wait. buying a ticket on a bus just because it leaves earlier than a jet is foolish, and a fool and his money soon part. no reimbursement deserved there.

5) Rich people.
these people are likely just movie lovers who wanted to cover their bases so they bought into both (and likely knowing one would eventually fall). if someone can afford to invest into both then they can afford to suck it up.

if i offended anyone then it's because you fit into one of the above catagories. please don't take it personally, thats no my intent. just accept that you did something stupid with your money.

this was a format war and we ALL took the risk as early adopters of wasting our money. i wan't totally convinced blu-ray would survive when i bought my PS3, but i weighted the evidence and invested accordingly.
in the end it comes down to: why should people who make poor investments get reimbursed while people who make wise investments get nothing? if some idiot M$ fanboys gets reimbursed for the $200 he foolishly spent on an hd-dvd addon, then dammit i deserve $200 of my $700 PS3 for being one who contributed to blu-ray's victory.
