Default Time for healing - a welcome to all former HD DVD supporters

Welcome to all former HD DVD people. The war is over and I know you are upset and do not want to think you somehow made bad decisions or were foolish. I am quite certain you that you made your decision in an intelligent fashion, you simply were an early adopter who took a risk and lost. NO BIG DEAL. SO WHAT. STUFF HAPPENS. Look on the bright side, you will still get to watch HD in 1080p with great audio, you will be able to get all movies from all studios on a uniform format, you will get higher bit rates and more storage, you will get the features you say you love so much with profile 2.0, and you will get cheaper prices as they fall due to increased market penetration due to the end of the war. In other words, you get to win too. So welcome and enjoy going blu and ignore those who would try to make you feel bad about your former format. Feel free to ask questions as most of us here are more than happy to help ease your transition.

No one else wants to welcome former HD DVD people? How sad if that is true. We should all be welcoming them.

I can only imagine how it would feel to spend thousands on players and movies just to watch the format bite it after 2 short years. I'd probably feel like someone killed my puppy.

The bright side is that HD DVD owners can watch movies that we Blu-bloods will need to wait for. Call it a temporary silver lining.

I've seen some negative comments from HD DVD owners saying they will never support Blu, loyal forever, Blu-ray is the enemy, etc. etc. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, but while they throw a tantrum, I'll be watching an ever-increasing library of hi-def movies.

So welcome, former HD DVD owners, whether you be resigned, pleased, or bitter. Sorry for your losses, but you must admit it's been a thrilling ride that both sides have gotten to enjoy. Now we can enjoy a unified format and bask in the glory of 1080p, lossless audio and more--from EVERY studio.

Well said. It's time to move on for both camps. We are now one camp and will work together, dream, speculate, ask questions, give answers and for both camps now... we can all enjoy one format that has 100% studio support for the first time in HDM history.

It is about time to stop being fans of a format and more fans of content.

This 'war' has been extremely bitter, especially on forums.

Welcome any new members. I think it's going to take awhile for die hards to come around but at least new HDM people didn't have to put up with all the bickering.

That's been true of most Blu-Ray supporters since the beginning.

I guess I never got into the rivalry between the blus and the reds. I just don't understand why people are so personal over a format. It's a very neat format, but it's still just a format.

A great idea and gesture. We do need to hold the olive branch and welcome anyone who wants to join us. More people mean more sales and we still have to get mass adoption.

Welcome.......however I am reading on various forums HD DVD owners who keep stating that the better format lost and they won't buy Blu and are just going to take their discs and go home..........I don't get it.......if you are not one of those, again, welcome.

This will all take time for everyone to settle down. This change is major. It will all smooth over after a while.

Both sides will come to the understanding that there is nothing left to fight about.

As long as they are not coming in here to start trouble and get all rowdy, then yes I'd welcome them.

Yes welcome EVERYONE!

I want to see ppl stop fighting about the 'war'! It's over and didn't even last long, it will be forgotten! Thank God there was no internet in the 80s. Would have been super annoying for how long Beta lasted.

The Masses won't even know what happened lately by the time they go Blu thank goodness.

Those who are genuine will show it and the trolls will all be gone, thanks to our great mods. To those who are genuine, welcome aboard. We will ALL now enjoy the many great films that Blu Ray has to offer.
