Custom charges importing from rarewaves

Anyone got hit from custom duties while importing from rarewaves. I've ordered it and I want to know your experiences as it's the cheapest option out there and the close one is groove.land

Not the OP, but I recently got hit with customs duty on my Rarewaves order. I ordered 6 titles (4 standard BD + 2 4K UHD BD). The 4 standard BDs were sent as 4 individual packages and escaped customs duty. But the 2 4K UHD BDs came as a single package and were charged nearly 50% customs duty.

I got my 8-BD Agnes Varda box-set from Rarewaves for 37 quid + shipping, and it didn't attract any duties. Recently ordered 4-5 blu-rays from them during their Vintage Classics sale, let's see what happens.

Did u get ur set ? How many days it takes for rarewaves to deliver?

For the last few orders, 3 weeks seems to be the average. Hoping to get my most recent order (made on 1st Jan) some time next week, fingers crossed.

This order was shipped by RW nearly a month ago. I made another order for some 5 discs a few days later. Fingers crossed they arrive smoothly too.

Got all the 5 discs in this order, no duties. 2 of them were put in a padded envelope, of which one slipcover got noticeably scuffed. The others arrived in individual cardboard mailers.

Also got an order of 4 discs from Eureka in a single cardboard package, again no duties:

Uh-oh, looks like the honeymoon of ordering imports to Mumbai without getting slapped with duties is over. Got hit with ~450rs, 50% duty on delivery of a single BD from Eureka valued at 7.50 GBP. I shudder to think about my order of the Wallace Krimi boxset at 45 GBP

That's unfortunate! As per the Postal Appraising Section of the Mumbai Customs Zone-I website (see the third Question and its Answer (i) at https://www.mumbaicustomszone1.gov.i...stalAppraising), customs duty on personal import is exempt if the value of the package is less than ₹1,000. Not sure how current that information is.

Well, I got 2 discs from Rarewaves yesterday (separate packages) without any duties, so keeping fingers crossed for what comes next.
