I just read that. Haha.

There are so many post of HD DVD fans who have purchase a Blu-ray player only to say, "you know, its not as bad as everyone said it was". Glad to see more and more people are enjoying the movies that they love in HD, regardless of format.

You betya they are. Finally, we are seeing some quality products. Unfortunately we should have never been beta testers and having to pay for Sony's premature release of the format. Samsung and Panny did for Sony just what the Bulgarians (or their umbrellas) did for the KGB in the cold war. When xxxx hits the fan let the underdog take a beating.

This from an avid HD supporter, i have both the HD-A1 and BDP9000. Selling the BDP to get a Sony, i don't care about the Pio Eli rebadge with added ethernet streaming and bonus price.

To me this is just further evidence that a very negative campaign is being waged against blu-ray by forces unseen.

I boxed up our Sony and am going to be taking it back tomorrow. This time i'm waiting for the Pioneer to come in. I sure hope that it works longer than the Sony did.

Oh well QC in Sony land is another major variable. Look at the Sony Pearl PJ, there is even a "Pearl Buyers Remorse Support Thread" on AVS. Superbly designed PJ with variable implementation, use or xxxxy PSUs etc, but i will not have it toast cuz i live 3 hours from the nearest civilized metropolis.

Seems most are not having issues with the Sony player. The one we picked up was working fine and the HDMI video just died. Pioneer makes it so this is more a testament to Pioneer QC?

The Ruby has been a solid projector, I also have a Sony Direct view HDTV and it works well.
