Default HD channels vs BR

hey guys... those with BR, i have been watching BR and upconverted movies since my player arrived. i have HBO HD on right now and it looks "bad" now. considering this is one of the few channels i even consistently watched before, this is not so good if i run out of movies. i will say, i can't be more happy with my sammy at this point. even watching upconverted movies, like the matrix, it's looking similar to HBO HD. i know my t.v. isn't large enough to notice all the warts of upconversion, but i'm loving it right now.

Yup. Cable and satellite and most if not all broadcast HD can't touch the best of the optical formats even now IMO.

Couldn't agree more. It just doesn't get any better than HD on disc. Although I have heard that OTA broadcasts of HD are pretty good. I get my HD feed from the cable company though.

I think the UK broadcasts that the BBC put out are of incredible quality, I don't know the exact bitrate, but I do know that Sky and the BBC broadcast HD content in AVC and the BBC is known to have high bitrates in comparison to all other broadcasters. I remeber reading somewhere that premier shows such as Dr Who and Torchwood use 20mbit+ AVC broadcasts.

Oh yeah and we waited for MPEG-4/AVC to be ratified before introducing HD content in a big way. 576p was sufficient for long enough. Patience pays dividends in the long term.

Good point Most of the bugs will be worked out by the time you guys get it. However, with that said, I've had my system for three days now and have been using it heavily. I don't want to jinx myself, but I can't believe how glitch-free this system has been. Especially, compared to when I got my 360 at launch last year, this has been night and day.
