Default all HD channels?

I know that all over-the-air channels will be HD in feb. 2009. does anyone know when all TV channels for satilite and cable will have to broadcast in HD and we will have 1 channel instead of 2. 1 HD and 1 SD.

actually this is not what is happening at all. It February 2009 In the united states ONLY all over the air tv channels are being shut off. So say good bye to bunny ears. Everything is going Digital, which means people with bunny ears need a convertor. Not every channel will be HD, everything will be the same as it is now, only grandma won't be picking up the news on her 15" Black and white tv without the convertor.

Also, who knows how long it will take for a channels to go HD, probably years and years still, at least years and years before SD is gone and only HD is in.

What is happening is all channels will be broadcast in digital instead of analog. So, for over the air you will need a digital tuner or digital to analog converter. This has nothing to do with HD, you still have your SD and HD channels....

Nope....
even bunny ears will work if they are in range of the broadcast towers & there are UHF/VHF

Some people will loss 1 or more channels (about 15% of people) just because how digital works & I have read that many broadcasters will Not be readly for the switch, up words of 30%, they had a thing about it a few weeks ago on AVS.

If you live near (under 50 miles) to a 'big' city they have mostlikey switched already & picking up digital now. But it also depends where you live, I pick up channels that are broadcasted 145 miles away, but there some that are just 10 miles away I can't get ... I live in the cali foot hills.

This is what I am using now..
