PQ looks good, constant bitrate of at least 30mbps at the beginning, PCM 5.1 also.

Does anyone know if this is a "remastered" version? I just saw the special edition DVD and it looked horrible. I perfer the original grainy version. This new one looked way to altered and fake and there's a loss of detail to it, plus whatever they did to the picture changed the opening credits. It's tough to explain, but the special effects for the opening credits were kind of gone...

Hmmm not sure but the PQ is good, very, very consistent. It doesn't dramatically change from amazing to terrible at all and the bitrate is pretty much 30-37 mbps all the way through. I recommend.

So Paramount aren't as silly as they look then hey. Actually they've been quite cunning, they made a US only deal to release their movies exclusively on HD-DVD for a short period, while sneakily making all their UK Blu Ray titles (I BET) region free, and release them through EIV, effectively making the deal worthless as everyone in the US will just import them.

Paramount get to have their cake and eat it. A big pay off for nothing other than cutting the US retailers out of the loop for a while, which was probably the whole point in the first place seeing as UK Blu Ray owners regularly import discs from the US, cutting out the UK retailers. Sounds like a deal stuck by international customs to make up for lost profits in the UK.

Plus how many of us panic bought LOADS of Paramount tiles, I know I did.

EiV and Paramount are not partners and Face/Off is released by Disney in UK...

Entertainment in Video might release some movies in UK that Paramount has control over in USA but Enterteinment in Video is an independent distributor of movies and distribute movies they have control over in UK. Paramount has nothing to do with this.

Movies have different distributors in different parts of the world. The Hollywood studios does not own world wide rights for all movies released in USA.

Are any of Paramounts movies distributed by Paramount in the UK?...what I'm getting at is, is the Paramount exclusivity deal actually worth the paper it's written on in the UK?...or will we be able to just pick up the Blu Rays through various other distributors.

And are any of the UK distributors for Paramount movies contractually obliged to not release Paramount Blu Rays?...

Thanks

You get it wrong...

Of course Paramount distribute the movies they have right to distribute in UK. The UK distributors does not distribute the movies for Paramount. They are distributing the movies for themselves. They are not controlled in any way by Paramount. Do you think Disney (who distribute Face/Off in UK because they own the rights for it) is controlled by Paramount?

But Paramount does not own the distribution rights for all the movies they distribute in USA. The rights can be owned by other companies (EiV, Disney or other companies). They could also be distributed by United International Pictures (UIP) which is a joint venture between Paramount and Universal.

So yes, the degree of exclusivity is not as great as it first appears but this applies to all exclusive companies (Universal, Paramount, Sony, Lionsgate, Fox and Disney).
