Default Bad feelings about first Paramount release...

Just remembered the situation as Paramount made the 150m $ deal, Blades Of Glory was next in the release queue. Maybe they have still some old disks in their warehouse, at least they have already a blu-ray master and can initiate mmidiate production. So I fear this title will one of the first to be released...and this is definetely not one I would like to be release first....

I agree... personally I hope they have Top Gun ready and in storage... if not they should get it ready asap... That's one of my favorite movies ever, I grew up on that stuff . Does anyone have any inside hints or clues as to which movies Paramount will be releasing VERY SOON? I'm also a Star Trek fan and I'd like to see Star Trek movies 1 through 10 on Blu-Ray from Paramount.

Don't fear BoG,

You don't need to buy it. Some Dud-ers felt compelled to buy it because of the switch from Blu to DUD by paramount at the time. Otherwise I don't think it would have sold 10 copies.

It's a terrible film to be certain but just leave it on the shelf and if you're ever some place that has it playing just close you eyes and imagine a happy place.

I don't care if they clear out their wharehouse of Blades of Glory, but I surely would rather wait for a quality Blu release than some half-baked HD-DUD port released early.

Rumor is they will release Transformers soon and with higher bitrates than the HD-DUD counter part.

id say its likely we'll see transformers with the same video encode with a PCM track.. that would be enough to keep me happy.. they had started to move to PCM just before they switched to HD DVD exclusive.. they had announced Bladed of glory would have PCM..

as regards Top Gun. The Dolby True HD track was great on HD DVD but the picture quality wasnt very consistent.. some was great, some less so i guess due to the age of the film and the cameras used at that time..

when its released on blue ray i'd imagine the blue ray will be identical to the hd dvd..

Yeah. But those titles will most likely be lowlevel refurbished hd dud catalogue titles.
Transformers: it makes sense what some mentioned above, that they soon release a version with the hd dud encoding plus pcm. So they have still the possibility to release a hi-bit special edition of it when TF2 comes to cinema....

Yeah I won't be lining up to get Blades of Glory either, but I'm still stoked about the long term. From here on out I don't give a rat's ass which studio has the rights to a given movie, they are all destined for Blu eventually.

BOG is a poor movie. I watched it on DVD, and there's no way I will be watching it again. If BOG is the first Paramount Blu-ray release, that's fine. I will not buy the movie, but I will spend money on the titles I want.

I'm sure there are people who actually who like Blades of Glory....... I don't have any desire to see it, because Will Ferrell hasn't really made any movies I care to see, but given the fact that many people like all sorts of movies I couldn't fathom seeing..... nothing would surprise me!

I just feel sorry for the idiot who tried to pay what was it, like $500 for it on EBay. You know they have to be kicking themselves right about now.

What difference does it make what's released first? Blades of Glory has already been authored and could probably be released inside of two weeks if they were so inclined, so why not?

It's not an HD DVD port, either . . . all of the Paramount discs, including BoG and Transformers, were authored prior to Paramount's change in allegiance. Both have AVC encodes and PCM soundtracks.

I wouldn't hope for Top Gun anytime soon . . . I hear it's been DNR'd quite heavily. Hopefully that's not the version we get.

Paramount is going to release what has been pressed and authored first.

If you don't like the first titles, don't buy them.
