I picked the dvd up the other day at Walmart for 5, but it rang up 10 and I told the woman the movie was in the 5 bin ,so she gave it to me for me.

Anyway, I think this should be released as a Special Edition with tons of features and if they wanted they could do a where are they now piece for the blu ray. I don't know something, its one of those great 80's films that need to be in HD I think.

The DVD never got a widescreen release...I would take a collectors edition DVD with widescreen or Blu-Ray release, but the studio needs to do something to refresh this title. Fullscreen (1.33:1) is not going to cut it anymore..

O.K, what's this I'm hearing that CBML has been edited pre 1990 on DVD??

It's bad enough that we get this classic in full screen only via touchstone, but now come to find out that the "car scene with Patty & Ronald " has been edited. Is this true?

Did older rental VHS tapes (1987/1988) have Darcy showing nudity? I'm getting conflicting information saying yes, and some saying no.

I'm tempted too but knowing my luck, Disney will announce a blu-ray the day after I buy it. Disney obviously created a new HD master for it within the last few years. Check out this sample clip from Disney on YouTube:

The master used for that clip is different and much better than the one used for the showings on HDNet.

Come on Disney, just give it to us on blu-ray! We know you got a shiny new HD master for it already done.

Love the movie!!! Would love to see it on blu-ray. It all depends on the studio. There's always hope...after all, Tightrope from 1984 is being released. I want to ask Disney/Touchstone but I don't see an email???

That HD transfer, looks much better. Now, lets hope we see an announcement for a scheduled release sometime this year.

I just watched that clip and it looks WAY better than the HD movie version on TV. I also don't remember that scene at all either, especially with Ronny riding his bike by the school. Is that a deleted scene or something?

I also notice that it actually has a lot do views, over 90k views. Hopefully Disney is using that to judge interest. I emailed them to ask if they have plans for a release so we shall see if they reply.

Has anyone heard anything on this? I know the clip they showed on YouTube was a remaster so they obviously have it ready to roll... I didn't get a response from them either so I don't know what Disney is waiting on.

No news yet but it is available in HD from iTunes and I think it was added to Netflix streaming last month.

No, that scene has always been in there.

Amanda Peterson in this was SO hot.

She caused me to run out of my tissues every couple of days. I had to pretend that I had the flu for about a year.

I definitely would grab the blu, but it's pretty good on Vudu.

Can't Buy Me Love has been near the top of my BD Wish List for quite some time now. No idea what the hold up is with it, especially now that I've heard Disney's already created a new HD master of it. They really need to get off their butts and make this one happen.

This is finishing up right now on cable. Looks darned good and it's still so awful when Cindy calls out Ronald for paying her at that New Year's Eve party.

He handled it much better than I would have.
