Default Firmware question- very newbie

To upgrade my firmware - is it as simple as going to the sony site that is linked on this site... downloading it to my PC, burning it to a CDRW and playing it in my bluray player? Or am I being too optimistic?
My PC does not burn DVDR's, just CD's.
Anyone with experience updating a sony s-300 , I would appreciate some info.
Also, by chance - does anyone know if I have to update before we can watch any of the Pirate's movies?

My Panny works that way (download the file, burn cd, pop cd in player) and I suspect that will work for yours as well.

You could always break down and read the instructions...

Go to "Forum" the select the "Blu-ray players" category. There is a huge thread on the Sony 300S. More information than you will ever need.

Wow - no problem. Downloaded the update and loaded it into blu-ray player over lunch break.
The one 'disturbing' moment was when the player turned itself off with the disc door open... then nothing for about 30 minutes. Sony support said no problem, talked me through last steps and its all done. painless.
Thanks for your help again everyone.
