I thought it was a perfect example of a missed opportunity. I love the premise, but find the execution extremely flawed. It's the kind of movie that screams for a re-make.

I loved it. It explains our planet perfectly. The people that should be populating the planet are being out-bred.

I cracked up when Dax Shepard's character yelled out; "I'm 'batin'!"

Also, the giant Costco was cool.

it sounds like a very polarizing movie, ive hear a lot of people that loved it and a lot of people who hated it, i keep meaning to see it, but i have so many other movies at home on blu ray i still need to watch, ill get to it eventually, but it sounds good to me

I'd rather have dental surgery than watch that mess again.

Awesome lines:

You mean that stuff in the toilet?

It's got electrolytes!

I can totally imagine Gatorade being pumped into the water supplies for like schools and buildings.

Actually, most of the "It delivers such an important message to society!" fan-worship comes from the rather wishfully-interpretive cult that grew up around Mike Judge's "Office Space", who immediately wanted to believe that his NEXT film would be Underappreciated Satire For the Betterment of Our Society as well...

...Until "Extract" came out, punched Judge's three-movie free-ride ticket and pretty well finished that cult off--Admit it, you didn't see it either, and that one opened on MORE than four screens.
(Sheesh, studio marketing even fell back on trying to grab the Cult with "It's got people working, so it's sorta like that one you liked!", but you'd think somebody on the Net would be trying for "Uh, is this one genius too?...Anybody??")

I love Mike Judge, but have mixed feelings on Idiocracy. It was a fantastic premise with a lot of funny ideas and moments, but it was lacking something in the execution. It just didn't hold together as well as his other work. Still, it's definitely worth checking out to form your own opinion.

Extract is terrible though. At least Idiocracy is funny.

SERIOUSLY! My coworkers won't drink water because it taste like nothing and makes them pee too much. I drink nothing but water at work cause they have coolers here.

A lot of people have those stupid little packets they pour into their water also.

I haven't found that at all.

From what I've known, most of the people didn't even know who Mike Judge was and what he has done in the past. He has a small {but dedicated} fanbase.

Love Idiocracy. The first ten minutes alone should be shown in sociology classes. Totally underrated and one of my recent cult favorites.

Supposedly there is a huge difference between the movie that Mike Judge turned in and what was finally released to theaters, if I remember correctly he called the released version "a jumbled mess" in an interview... by various accounts 30-60 minutes were edited by the studio to "improve it" before release.
