Default Blu-Ray player add-on for XBOX 360

Last year, Microsoft said they'll develop a Blu-Ray add-on for their XBOX 360 if they find Blu-Ray becomes the norm.

When should we expect an add-on from Microsoft?

One would think that it would only be compatable with the Elite XBOX360. It has HDMI to support 1080p.

All Xbox 360's now come equip with HDMI. At least the pros, elites, and halo 3 editions.

I have both a PS3 and a 360
I enjoy the exclusive games for both systems
credit I do own more for the PS3...not to mention a shelf full of BD...but I still enjoy my 360 sitting next to it....
a BD add-on would be amazing. As most of my friends I have turned to blu supporters...but many already own a 360 and don't have the money to change.

I don't recall MS saying they would release a Blu-Ray add on. I recall them saying they could if HD DVD failed.

Can't see it happening. MS is focused on the down-loads. Can't see them putting any effort into supporting a format that is going to get in the way of this "master" plan.

More important, when will Toshiba start selling Blu-Ray players
Who cares about MS, I hope they will all burn in hell anyway.

to be honest, i would never have purchased a PS3 if there were a blu-ray attachment for the 360. I've had my PS3 since launch last year(Nov 22 if i remember correctly?), camped out 42 hrs for it and have YET to buy a game(or rent one except crappy Resistance) for it because IMO it does not have a game, but i do own a lot of Blu-ray movies. Now in my case it would have been a lot more cost efficient to buy a $200 blu-ray add on for my 360 than spend $600 on my new ps3, but that's the way electronics role and i'll just have to deal with that.

PS3 superior!?? Lol. Whatever. Worse games, worse marketting strategy, etc, etc. And the sales numbers reflect that.

I'd ONLY get a PS3 for Metal Gear and the Blu-ray ability. That's it. Hopefully my far superior Xbox 360 can have a Blu-ray attachment one day.

I would buy an Xbox 360 Blu-ray AddOn in a second.
I've always preferred playing games on my 360, the PS3 just doesn't have enough worthy games yet. If I didn't have 40 Blu-ray movies already, then my PS3 would have probably been put out to pasture within months of buying it. (but I'm too addicted to blu-ray to go back to reg old craptastic dvd movies).

10.5 million PS3's sold so far. Yeah, what were they thinking, right? If I got an xbox 360 it would be so i could only play games because movies are at odds with the loud fan inside. How can you defend it when the power brick is outside of the unit and it still has thermal issues that require a loud cheap fan.

Plus, I can't wait to pay $15 dollars a month to play online against a bunch of twelve year olds that play halo three all day. And Halo3, what exactly is different besides the sub 720 rendering resolution.

Not trying to start a console fight on this thread, just tired of PS3 bashing saying its worse because its not what you use.

USB driven optical drive versus integrated ide/sata Blu-ray. PS3 advantage.
Not to mention 360 will not use any next gen optical drive for games(to do so would alienate any users without addons). They wanted as cheap as possible. Cross platform games are coming that 360 users have to download content for while the blu-ray already has it all on the disc.

When it comes down to it, PS3 is a better consumer electronic device. Nuff said.

I don't think it's a bad idea, having a Blu-ray player add-on for the Xbox 360 would be a good thing for Blu-ray.
