Default 24fps from Panasonic BD30

I just bought this player and when I try to turn on 24fps it will not let me. I have it hooked up with HDMI to a Yamaha RX-V861 and then with HDMI to my Mitsu DLP from there. I hooked the player directly up to my tv and it worked fine, and as soon as I plugged the HDMI back into the receiver it turned it off. My receiver is set to send through the HDMI video signal, so I don't understand why this isn't working. I just ordered an Onkyo 805 that should be here on 2-28. Does anyone have the Panny hooked up with an Onkyo and can you tell me if the 24fps works with this receiver? Or does anyone know how to make this work with my Yamaha? Thanks in advance for any help.

I have the Panny BD30 and the Onkyo 805. It does not give me the option to adjust the 24 fps either.

The problem is your TV may not support 24 FPS. This is the case with my friend's set.

i thought all movies are already 24fps... are you talking about playing 60fps down to 24fps to get rid of jutter?

I have the Pany 30 also but my TV does not do 24 frames. The Pany automatically disables that option if the TV is not compatible.

Would 60fps be better than 24fps? If so then I'm not going to lose any sleep over this.

It's not that 60fps is better... it's just the 24fps is the native frame-rate of movies, so a lot of people like watching at 24fps.

I am sorry about the oversight. I read DLP and no 24 FPS and jumped to conclusions based on the problems my friends are having because their DLP's are no compatible with 24 FPS.

I would say check the HDMI settings on your Yamaha because it seems to work when you bypass it. The Onkyo should work too. I have an Integra (same as Onkyo) and it passes 24 FPS to my LCD without any problems at all. Again, it's critical to check the configuration of the player and receiver.
