why do greys look weird on my tv

ive got a high quality tv its a samsung lcd 1080p the only thing that id complain about is that greys arnt displayed properly they have like a dithering effect in other words say if an item of clothing was grey it would look grey in places but in other places of the item it would be a bluey or redish colour a mixture.Wondering if anyone else has the same problem im sure they do.Worst films for it are under siege with the grey of the battle ship and noticed it in total recall and also on some ps3 wallpapers so nothing to do with the transfer of the films.Also had it on other tvs ive owned which were a different brand maybe its just a flaw of the technology
