Default my samsung wont show greys properly

hi blu-rayers i was wondering if someone could tell me whats wrong with my tv.Anytime something that is grey is on the screen my samsung 46inch LCD full hD tv will show dark greenish smudges over it.Whats causing this? its not like its a poor quality tv or anything.Ive had it 18 months and it did that when i got it im sure its not a fault it either needs calibrating or its just a fault with the technology.Any other colour looks fantastic its just greys.Ive heard of something called greyscale i know how to get into the service menu but i wouldnt know how to alter it.

Are you in a position to get rid of it? Maybe sell it and put that money towards something else. Just save yourself the trouble. Go with DLP or plasma if you prefer.

I would definately consider using DVE: HD Basics which you might even be able to rent from your local video rental shop. Hopefully for you it's not a defect in the TV! If you see an improvement after the calibration, but are still not completely satisfied, you might consider a professional calibration service (expect to pay $200-$500).

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! Good luck!

Look up DVE blu-ray on amazon. That is your best bet. If you don't do that, than you will have to get a calibration. Either that or your set is broken.

yep i think youre right ive been reading about greyscale on lcd and it said Do all the patches have comparable tint, or perhaps part of the scale is somewhat MURKY GREENY, and another part more steely-blue? For colour-critcal work, software utilities such as Adobe Gamma can be used to optimise the purity of greyscales.Im getting the murky green problem.

so i doubt its a fault hopefully i just need to calibrate it.

You should post your question in the owner's thread on avsforum. They will be better able to help you. This is probably not something you will be able to calibrate out on your own. You won't have access to the appropriate controls.

I'll find the thread for you. What model do you own?
