I'm really torn as which one to get. I know that multimedia and etc. the PSP is far superior, but I mean as a system overall. I'm more looking for it for casual gaming, when I really want to game, I'm going to do it on my PS3.
So I was just curious as to what everyone has for opinion. No Fanboyism would be appreciated Thanks! ![]() |

For games, I love my DS.
For multimedia and inter-operability with my PS3, I love my PSP. There have been games for the PSP that I really like: for example, Final Fantasy Tactics, Mercury, etc. I'm heavily into Josh Waitzkin's Chess game right now. In my opinion, PSP games are getting better. Last edited by miokti; 02-29-2008 at 08:35 PM. |

The DS has limited scope beyond the games available for it - besides the painfully limited pictochat thing. The stylus & touch screen do give it an advantage with certain types of games, but it has limited power and no analogue stick so it is poor at some types of games.
The PSP is more powerful and more geared for multimedia, but the analogue stick is really uncomfortable and gives me cramps if I play on it too long, so whilst it can handle the games, they're annoyingly hard to control. They both have their flaws and strengths - if "casual" gaming is all you are after, go for the DS - if you want a jack-of-all-trades portable PS2, photo & movie viewer and mp3 player, go for the PSP. |

They are both great. DS has alot of good games, no loading time and a little bit better battery life. PSP has some of my fav movies on the memory stick and pictures and the picture quality of the screen is amazing imo. For just games DS for pictures/movies PSP. I wouldn't get a psp just for casual gaming, but thats just me.

The 3D graphics on the DS are horrible, almost worse than PS1, while the PSP has graphics on par with a PS2.
It just sucks the DS gets all the castlevania handhelds. |

Who cares if the PSP has better graphics and this and that if the content is lacking. The PSP has been out for years and I can count on one hand (two maybe) the number of games that I truly enjoy.
The PSP has always felt like a phantom product to me. The support just doesn't appear to be there. It's too bad, because the PSP is far more advanced. If you like to use your handheld for music, photos and video mostly, then the PSP is better. I have a iPod for that stuff. Who needs the bulk. If games are your primary concern, the DS if far superior. That said, I have all the systems, so I don't have to pick and choose. ![]() My advice would be to look at the game assortment of both systems and tally up the score. And if you're getting the PSP, wait until May and get the GoW PSP. ![]() |

The DS has far better games in my opinion as well, plus they are generally much different than what you'd play on a home console so is a nice break. Even similar games feel different and partially rejuvenated by the stylus for me.
Everyone needs to play Phantom Hourglass. Haven't had that much fun in a long time. Fabulous game. If you do get one, you may also want to look into an R4 or whatever else they are called. Adds some multimedia functions and allows for some homebrew applications and games (some of which are pretty sweet). Also allows for emulation but I'm not an advocate of that part of it |

DS until this year. Now I look at the upcoming DS games and the DS has maybe one game I am interested in that is not out yet (BioWare Sonic RPG) and maybe Dragons Quest 9.
PSP suddenly has gotten decent, when it used to be awful. So for currently library DS wins hands down, but for the future PSP looks much better. |

I wasn't torn at all...PSP all the way, upcoming games are amazing.
The DS is entertaining, but for me, more for mario anything. I got a PSP on release day, and traded that in for the slim one. The graphics are amazing and the games have only begun. I have FF7 Crisis Core on Pre-order along with God of War. I want to get Wipeout Pulse as well. I bought an original DS (not the lite) for $40 with 2 games from some random guy...otherwise I would not have purchased it. |
