firmware question for S300 - Blu-ray Forum

i have been reading in the forums about the sony shipping firmware dvds to people in the States..
i was wondering if the same thing happens in Canada?..anyone know?

Why not just download it from the Sony website?

Yes! You can call Sony Canada at 1-877-899-7669. That's what I do. I refuse to burn them, because it is just one more step that can go wrong and why should I use my own blank disc, when they will send me a pre-made one for free?

I think the 7 cents I spent for the blank CD was worth every cent.

One other note, one time I made the mistake of taking the disc out before it was done. I simply replaced the disc and it picked up where it left off. But it did make me

I now have a cheap Uninterruptable Power Supply to power the players in case of power loss due to the city, or breaker tripping. Which has happened a number of times when the a/c gets installed for the summer.

The last thing you want is to be in the middle of a ROM / Firmware update when that happens. While the S300 seems to recover on its own pretty well, the same senario could FUBAR your computer. GET A UPS! BE SURE TO PLUG IN THE BATTERY!
