Default Yet another 605 Question

I'm gearing up to get the reciever and was looking at the reviews over on Circuit City and someone posted the below:

The ONLY drawback is that when connecting a component source to HDMI out, it will convert the signal to 720P. In my case, I have my cable box hooked up and will not connect via component only HDMI because I do not want the 1880i sources down converted to720P. Although I would like the 480i signals upconverted to 720P, I am not willing to have my 1080i sources down converted. Otherwise a great receiver.

Is that a true statement (not that I truly knows what the statement fully means)? I am only using a PS3 for DVD and a Sony TV that handles 1080..... I really dont want to "down convert".. I was set until I read this persons review.....
By the way I am not a AV pro, very novice at the least and am just looking for great audio and video.

thanks
Jake

It doesn't effect you... use HDMI from your ps3 to the receiver
HDMI to the TV and you will pass thru the signal
