Ps3 Audio Problem

I have my PS3 hooked up to my Marantz 7001 via HDMI cable.
Yet I can only get stereo sound from it.

But my Cable and Xbox works fine via HDMI.

Any ideas?

make sure the audio is set to Linear PCM and that every option is checked (manual instead of automatic)

Yeah I have it all set like that, but still not working.
Any other ideas?

bd/dvd is set to lpcm? you can select automatic with audio, it will check it all anyway. using hdmi? then check your receiver and see what listening mode its on

my reciver is just showing stereoLR setup... wont change.

this is from the manual

STEREO
This mode bypasses all surround processing.
In stereo program sources, the left and right channels
play normally when PCM audio or analog stereo is
input.
With Dolby Digital and DTS sources, the 5.1 channels
are converted to two channel stereo. 96 kHz PCM
source material can be played back in stereo mode.


theres got to be a setting on your receiver. if there is an auto button try it

Yeah its on AUTO.
This is quite aggravating.

I am watching cable now and it sounds amazing, but turn on the ps3
and it sucks.

does your receiver support 5.1 and 7.1 pcm? doesnt look like it supports true hd or dts ma. so you might be left with dd 5.1 and dts 5.1. if thats the case then in the ps3 audio section, uncheck all pcm 5.1 and 7.1 selections. should give you 5.1 digital. then try a game

went through 3 boxes in 6 months a year ago and said never again.
as far as the pcm, dunno bro, i just kinda flipped through your manual real quick from the web site. i think some receivers dont have true hd decoding but can support the pcm and some dont. id check your manual more closely. if you dont have it you can download it.
