Default Question about DTS-HD

I've searched the forums but i have not yet found exactly what I was looking for, so here it goes. I own a H/K AVR146 with JBL speakers and a PS3 and I was wondering how exactly does someone take advantage of this new feature for the Playstation? The software update 2.3 is what I am refereeing to. Is this something my receiver does automatically, is it a setting that must be changed, or can my receiver use this new feature at all? Anyone who knows I would really appreciate any insight!

P.S.
I am connecting to my receiver with a fiber-optic cable.

a receiver with hdmi ver. 1.1 (i believe) is all thats needed. all the receiver will get is pcm audio no matter the hd codec. these receivers can be had fairly cheap now.

unfortunately you will only acheive 2.0 Lossless with an optical cable.

You would need an HDMI receiver that accepts Multichannel PCM from the ps3.

What he said x2.

And, if you DO decide to get an HDMI receiver, make sure that you set the PS3 "BD/DVD audio output" to "Linear PCM." Dolby TrueHD & DTS HD MA will both show up as PCM or Multich on your receiver, but they will be playing the full HD audio stream that you selected. If you set that to "Bitstream" you won't get the HD audio, but the exact same track that you would get from the DVD version of the film.

Actually you're not quite there: HDMI 1.1 can only carry 2 channels of PCM. You will need to get a receiver that can output 5.1 channels of PCM (my Sony STRDG-900) could not so I upgraded to the Pioneer Elite Receiver.

Cheers.
