So I was wondering if I could use a DVI to HDMI cable to output the video from my PC through the receiver, therefore not having to kill my fingers unscrewing those cables every hour or so... It worked great until the user select screen (WinXP) , when the monitor went into standby mode.... help would be greatly appreciated.

not sure I understand the request?
are you asking how to keep the screen from going into standby? right click on the desktop and go into the settings...you should be able to set the option longer? ...or is your question Receiver related? im confused? |

its probably a refresh rate and resolution issue by going through the receiver.
You should connect the DVI straight to monitor and use audio cables through the Receiver. (as mentioned above) Also, why not stream your PC media through the PS3 instead? |

Windows uses a default resolution upon start-up, when you hit the login you are then switched to what you configured, see display options....you may need to do a "safe" boot-up to get there

DVI-HDMI is the best picture availible, so use that. Don't use the receiver, go directly from pc to lcd.
What is you screen resolution? ControlPanel/Display/Settings Have you tired troubleshooting with your graphic card? ControlPanel/Display/Settings/Troubleshoot... For the audio then go to the receiver's inputs (AUX) http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 |

Look for an option in your drivers to enable HDTV or 1080p support and then select an appropriate resolution and refresh rate as crackinhedz suggested. If your windows resolution is unsupported by your display, your display will simply turn off.
Something like 1920x1080@60hz-32bit for a 1080p display. You can start with something simple like 640x480@60hz and see if that gets displayed and go from there. I seem to recall finding a more fine-tuned list of settings (maybe in my driver's custom refresh rates section) that let you adjust several other parameters of the video signal, but you shouldn't need to do that with current drivers. |

I'd only buy a switchbox as a last resort. Why buy a switch box when this is exactly what the receiver is designed to do? |
