Default upgrade to 705

hi all

since my sony surround system had not the right connexions to send true the uncompressed sound of the blu ray so i bought myself this weekend the TX-SR705 onkyo receiver and a wharfedale diamond 9HCP 5.1 speakerset wich am gonna upgrade in the future to a 7.1 only prob is that i have to wait 2weeks before i can go pick it up from the store

he had only 1 HDMI out so that i needed to go optical from my ps3 to the receiver and so i mist out the uncompressed sound not that optical sounds bad but sume blu,s got only uncompressed tracks like in commando and cars(had a topic about it in movie,s about it) so it sounds not like it should be but that problem is solved now on the 705 are 3 ins and 1 out

Default Congrats for your 705

When your 705 arrive, you will be so glad because you will experience more than just one thing. 705 will make you want to do almost everything like playing music and watch movies... cause the sound just powerful. My favorite surround mode for movie is THX Natural 7.1 which can fake any movies from 5.1 to 7.1. For music playback, i like Stereo which i can hear sounds from LEFT, RIGHT and LFE speaker but if set to Pure Audio, it sound very smoother but no LFE. You will use your 705 alot.. Im telling you.

Great choice on the 705. I've had mines for a few months now and absolutely love it. I used thx natural for tv, but for movies I like the thx cinema plx2 or multichannel. Either or if you do experience some humming from your sub, try the dayton isolator. Got that from amazon for like $8 and fixed the problem. Just a heads up so you don't freak out or anything.

Well supposedly I had some interfernce coming from my cable line/box. Don't know the technical term but I think it was a ground loop problem. That isolator goes between the cable line and box. Before I couldn't watch tv with my sub on since that hum was just so annoying, but I used that dayton isolator and fixed the problem

Oh yeah on another note though I didn't have that humming problem with my old onkyo reciever/ HTiB. Did some research and found that some have an issue with the hum and couldn't really figure out what it was, some even returned the reciever. Did more research and found that isolator and thought eh it's only 8 bucks, tried it and I'm glad I did

for that price you could have gotten a receiver that could decode true hd and dts ma and 7.1 analog out. at least then you would be set for the future.

ps3? its all good. i have a ps3 too. but i bought a 705 while thinking of the future. if im going to drop a bunch of cash on something i want it to las for years. didnt know if ill only have a ps3 for blu. now i decided to buy a nother player that will bitstream all sounds to the receiver for decoding. i used analog multi channel outs on my last receiver and i wanted outs on this one for the same reason. its whatever your going to or think your going to use. a lot of people prefer marantz dont get me wrong. im not knocking it.
