Default Need speaker advice, dont know what I have/Want.

Well I have a 42 inch Hitachi plasma and 5.1 sony reciever(gonna upgrade to Onkyo 605 around summer) and a JBL G40 set of 5.0 speakers (http://www.jbl.com/home/products/pro...CheckProduct=Y) (no sub yet, gonna get it with reciever). I am not really sure what kind of quality these speakers are. When I get the Onkyo for lossless from my ps3 and hd a1(yea I have hd dvd, flame me) I want to make sure I have an adaquete speaker setup to fully enjoy it. What speakers would be a worthwhile upgrade to get the most out of lossless? I was looking at the Klipsch quientet 2 that looks pretty nice. Please help me out.

Really I have no idea. I kinda made this thread to help sort that out. I mean what should I be looking to spend to get the best out of lossless. Nothing crazy I mean keep it budget oriented like under 700ish I suppose.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I think the Polk Audio Monitor series would suit your needs. Klipsch makes a very nice speaker as well. I am not much of a JBL fan myself.

Klipsch Quintet IIIs with Klipsch KSW-10 Subwoofer, a solid deal for $700. Or if you want to save about $300, go for the Quintet II's with the same sub. They are solid speakers.

I personally wouldn't recommend JBL, at least not in that price range...

I had Yamaha speakers that were TWICE their size, and believe me, these things can put out some great sound, and damn loud!

Do your current speakers sound good to you? You said you didn't know if they were good..... but if they sound good to you, that's all that matters.

For that price range, I think the quintet III is your best bet.

Would you be able to wait and double your bugdet? Or do you want to go ahead and get it now? If so, I understand, I know how these things are, I am having a tough time waiting to get my new TV...

Thinking of picking up this set of Quintet III speakers as well. Sounds like they do great with movies, but how about traditional CD music?

Thanks

you need to take some time, grab your favorite blu and/or cd and go test drive some speakers... Make sure that they set them up with either your amp or something simular.. The combo makes the sound, and some go better with others... BUT it has to be your ears, as mine are different ( pointed )

Some vendors, and manufactures will actually let you take them home and try in your acoustics and then issue a store credit / refund when you return them.. check your options..

as far as how much better can it sound.... when you find the right match, it will blow you away

I use the 5th element diva scene, with the singing, then the gun fight... quick and to the point

I like my Quintet III and Sub-10 setup. It's great for movies! It's very good for music as well, but I think movies are it's strong-suit.

Try to go around to some stores and whatnot and testing out some speakers, you may develop some favorites from there. Everyone seems to have a go to brand, IMHO Klipsch is the way to go in the lower spectrum. Polks are also very nice speakers.
