Default Do you watch movies only b/c they're on Blu-ray?

I have the feeling people buy a lot of movies they otherwise wouldn't have bought simply b/c they're available on Blu-ray.

True or not?

true, I like hearing true hd, and pcm, also checking out the picture quality of some blu's, which SD can't compare to

Talking Blu makes it much more cool

I've always bought movies even before they were on Blu-ray. Now that they are on Blu-ray it makes it sooooooooo much better. In a way I agree with you though because some movies I might not have bought if they were not on BD.

The only movie I bought because I thought it would look great on blu was AVP . And now I hear that Fox is prepping a "new" AvP with BD-Live and PiP...

I refuse to buy RV, Little Man, or Are We There Yet. I will ONLY buy titles I am interested in. I dont buy Blu-ray for the sake of it.

I will tend to rent different movies just because they're on Blu-ray. It's actually opened up my movie viewing perspective a bit.

I have gotten many title I would not have gotten if not for BD, and in many cases, not all, have been very pleasently surprised at how much i liked the move, that I never would have watched before. So not having a lot of choice, ie no paramount or universal, has been a good thing....for now.

The vast majority of BDs I have bought have been movies I would never have bought on SD DVD.

no for me. I watch movies because I like or am interested in the film, not just to see the quality. not that I don't respect that end of the hobby, it's just not what I do.

edited for brevity.

I won't buy a Blu-ray disc just because it's a Blu-ray disc. No way - I like my money too much.

I buy movies because I want to see them and add them to my collection.

Not true for me. I buy a movie because I like it and not because it is out on one or the other format. Sure if it is available on BD rather than DVD, I choose the better one... Only blind buying very few.
I have cut down on buying SD DVDs quite a lot though, but that is also due to the crappy movies that came out lately!

I think alot of you are lying, and do buy the movies because they are on Blu ray.

Think about all the new releases, and how many of the movies didnt do good at the box office or got bad reviews and people will buy its because its the "new release" of the week on blu ray.

I traded in all 400 and some of my dvds to hastings and got store credit to buy films on blu ray, kinda like selling all my vhs to get dvds back in 1998. So ya I buy because they are on blu. Even some sub par films like Gods and Generals I bought because it was on blu and even though the movie isnt all that great its fun watching it in high def!
