Default I'll watch movies I don't even like... just because it's Blu-ray!

Yes, it's true !

Any people wondering about the switch to High Def for the home theater... DO IT! DO IT!

You will find yourself doing the same as I do... "who cares about the content...look at that sweet picture"

So the question is, what is the worst film you have sat through because you just liked how sweet it looked ??? (you know you have done it too!)

Never once have I sat through a crappy film just to look at the picture. I'm more worried about the content of the movie.

The killer pic is great, but the movie must have some sort of substance that will keep me interested.
I surely won't buy a movie just because of format or PQ.
I have to be able to watch the movie for what it is.

Gigli will NEVER be in my collection - even if it's a 3D Hologram.

I agree..... so if I had to say the "worst" movie I've seen in HD, it would be "Cars" or "Sunshine"

Soon my friend the picture quality will become common place. We are simply mezmerized by the image quality now available to us. We've had to watch analog broadcasting since 1944, VHS and DVD's for several years with some, but little improvement. Now with High Definition Cable and Satellite, and Blu-ray Discs, all that has changed. If a commercial is in High Definition, I even enjoy watching it. We have arrived at the higher ground, that so many have yet to discover, but they will soon, Feb. 17th. 2009 is approaching soon, and a multitude of people will join our ranks.

I thought everyone believed that was a terrible BD transfer? I got it free with my PS3 so I don't really care but I remember everyone saying how bad of an example of Blu-ray to show off your launch system.

I've seen quite a few movies on Blu-ray I didn't like. Never bought on I didn't like (thanks to Netflix).

Ahhhhh (Maxwell Smart style) The old bought it for my girlfriend trick eh???? LOL

I am a movie collector too, it's more of an obsession really. I love having a huge selection of titles for company or just for rainy days.

I'll admit I was never a big fan of the POTC trilogy but after watching it in BLU, I had to have all of them.

I purchased Spider-Man and POTC movies because of the PQ...the story-lines aren't great, but it's great action...

I couldn't agree more. I've read alot of people think the ferry explosion scene in Deja Vu as one of the best Blu-Ray experiences. I have to disagree, the scene in At World's End near the end where the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman go ballistic on that British Ship was in one word....AMAZING!

An Open Letter to Movie Studios, from Cranky Weasel

This year I made the leap into high definition. I bought the 50″ 1080p television, forked over the cash for a Blu-Ray player in the form of a Sony PS3, and now I’m in movie mode, big time.

I love movies. I also love to buy movies. I had stopped buying DVD’s because I knew the format was old and weak, but now I’ve again become a collector. Each week brings a new set of releases which I comb through, looking for those that are worth the money.

With the new format, I’m practically begging to give away my hard-earned cash. Right now I might buy a movie I wouldn’t even have rented before, just because I’m still enamoured with the beautiful picture and sound of high definition. It’s your golden opportunity! I’ll buy movies because they are shiny and make cool sounds.

The problem is that you think I’m a moron. I might be spend-happy, but I’m not an idiot. Don’t try to sell me a terrible horror movie like “The Reaping”, which got a lovely rating of 7% over 125 different reviews, for $30. Don’t slap the same price on “The Invisible”, another special-effects-laden crap-fest which scored 20% (still abysmal), and expect me to pony up the cash.

I’d undoubtedly momentarily lose my mind and buy these on a whim if they were priced around $15. You would get a couple of dollars of my money, or whatever your profit margin is, and I’d get one more for my collection. Everybody wins! You’d probably sell boatloads of them to early technology adopters like me.

When your crappy movie bombs in the theatres, and you price the thing at $34 in the store, you have to know they’ll sit on the shelves gathering dust. What kind of thinking puts a $35 price on a copy of “The Covenant”, a movie so crappy that it failed on every level?

Yeah, an old one-speed banana-seat bike is, technically, a bicycle. You don’t price it like a competition cycle just because the same word describes both.

Price that piece of crap for the bargain bin. I’ll be there.

Cranky

I'm guilty of this ... I consider myself an audiophile and someone up here said Dragon Wars had a good soundtrack, so I bought that movie and it was horrible as hell.
