Default Counting - Title or discs?

Just what it says -- I've always been curious about this, but when you get the inevitable "How many DVDs do you have?" question, do you guys go by title, or the number of discs (counting 2-3-4 disc sets).

Or, if you have a cataloging program, do you just go by what it tells you that you have?

I use DVDProfiler -- they do as well.

I'm just curious to see how many people "fudge" their numbers by counting # of discs (I used to LOL).

Now I go by title as well...

Number of discrete titles. Blade Runner counts as 1. Planet Earth counts as 1. Die Hard Collection counts as 4. MacGyver: The Complete Series counts as 7 (# of seasons).

cause people LIE!!

I have always counted evertything as one, so If I had purchased a "complete series" compilation I would have entered that into my excel program as One as it has only 1 upc.
I think it would definately get to confusing to try to separate by # of discs per set...and etc

I actually count by the number of physical cases, not discs. Seems the most accurate way.

+1

Like with Spiderman Trilogy, i count it as 3 not 1. Planet Earth 1. Best of Blu-Ray volumes are 4. Etc.

Except when you have the Die Hard Collection all in one case. I think that is four, because it's four individual movies.

I definitely count by titles. Counting by discs seems like something a five-year old would do.

I count by title. Counting by discs is just as useless as comparing contrast ratios between companies.

I don't count and most times I don't say. If you have a few, people go "cool", if you have a lot, people look at you as a freak. But for here where counts seem to be talked about often I just guestimate the level (like now, I say over 200) and it is by UPC (i.e. my 5 HPs count as 5 because I did not buy a box but the 4 DH count as one because I did)

Eh, true. It's a toss up. My spiderman movies are three cases, but I want to replace that with the 3-in-1 collection. So, I guess counting by title is most accurate. If we count by disc then we have to start counting the "extras" and that is just nuts.
