Default Blu-ray question

Okay, So if there is a 2-disc DVD does the blu ray have 2 discs too with extra features, or does it have one disc with all the special features on it?

Thanks for the replys.

It depends on the movie. Are the extras HD? How long is the movie?

Some do, some don't

DVD is about 8 GBytes and runs at about maximum 10 Mbit/s. BD is 50 GBytes and runs roughly close to max 40-50 Mbit/s.

If the DVD main movie is remastered in blu-ray, it could take up to about 40 (8x5) GBytes. Usually it is less than this due to more efficient blu-ray encoding. DVD is mpeg2 only and blu-ray could have AVC, VC-1 or mpeg2.

Therefore, if the 2nd DVD was transferred as it is on to blu-ray (i.e. without making the HD version), both DVDs should fit into a single blu-ray disk. I expect this will be the case in many instances.

There could be some cases that the 2nd DVD is remastered in HD, in this case it may require two blu-ray disks. Even in this case, a single BD would be sufficient depending on the length of content.

As previous posters have indicated, in most cases a single BD would be sufficient.

(Only rough numbers were used to determine a rough conversion factor. Reality will be different to above calculations. For example, the DVD main movie could have been encoded at about max 5 Mbit/s instead of max 10 and therefore, above calculations will not apply.)
