Default Sell S300 on eBay and buy a PS3?

Should we do this?

Would it be worth the trouble?

My dad is getting pissed about the 1 minute boot, and it froze tonight and it took 5 minutes to get back to our movie....

Is the ps3 a better player?

The PS3 has much faster load times. Mine has never frozen on a Blu-ray.

PQ is the same, but the s300 has some clunky operation.

I just replaced mine with a bd-p1400 from samsung and I can already tell a difference in fucntionality, etc. plus trueHD and DTS-hd r0x!

but the ps3 is THE BD player to get still, hands down!

the OP would probably take a monetary loss, but people will buy anything on ebay.

Yeah, I would (and did) although the prices on EBay are dropping fast; I think you can squeeze out $200-$250 for the S300

I had the luck of buying my S300 when Sony dropped the price to $299 so I even made a little profit there

Don't wait too long!

I love my S300. Wouldn't trade it for anything. To each their own, I guess.

imo, the ps3 is the best possible solution. i dont know too too much about standalone players, and even less about specific models, but i do know that my ps3 loading times are extremely quick (never more than 30 seconds even when a notice pops up telling me that it could take up to 5 minutes!) as well as easily upgradeable software (which is key and necessary for the playing of newer bdm). and in the end you'll be spending as much as you would for the ps3 as you would for a low end bd player but still get the nextgen gaming console (basically for free). there's a ps3 remote which words wonders, is blu tooth compatible (except it doenst have a backlight ) and again imo, the ps3 has a sleeker and more "advanced" look whereas the standalones i've seen to date are clunky and ugly... like really really old vcr's

I just sent back a stand-alone in order to get a PS3. I just wanted to say that I do not like the sleek, advanced look. The PS3 is going to my office first so it's a non-issue for awhile, but it's going home eventually. When it gets there I want to add it to my stack. Unfortunately it has to go on top because I can't stack anything on top of it. Unfortunately my Wii has to go on top because it's too small to stack anything on top of it. It's all uber-sexy and all, but I'd prefer smooth integration into my home entertainment setup.

I like my S300 as well.

It will do the job until I do some other upgrades then it will rotate into another room. That will probably be about a year, so hopefully there are price drops by then. I know it can't do DTS-HDMA, but I just watched I,Robot with the core DTS soundtrack It was Awesome! I can live without one of the HD audio codecs for a little while. As far a load times, they were bad initially but after all the updates it doesn't really bother me.

i can definitely see your point and for condensed spaces where you want to stack your hardware the ps3 is definitely impractical... see for me, its my tv on the wall and the ps3 and thats it... unless i had a receiver i dont really see the point to have so many things that you would need to formulate some sort of jenga tower to keep them all??? if you dont mind me asking, what are you stacking?
