I went to return 5 HD movies still sealed with BB stickers on them last night. They had been purchased during dec, jan and feb. They would not even give me store credit because I didnt have a rect dated within 30 days. Since dec i have plunked down much $$ for a sharp hd tv, panny bd30, many accessories, last week a new sony sr11 camcorder, dvd recorder and accessories. these havent been opened yet and I really feel like returning them and purhase them on sony.com just to protest the fact that I have spent all of this money in that store yet they cant accomodate me with a small return of 5 hd movies. They had no problems pushing hd players last year on people but now wont help out.
Do you think it is worth elevating this to a store mgr or best buy corporate?? Sorry for the rant but this really pees me off! |

Not sure I get the OP's request here. You want BB to break their 30-day return policy just so you can buy the same movies from somewhere else? How does this make sense?
My time is far too valuable to waste on fruitless pursuits like that. No offense, but if I were the BB mgr, I'd tell you to take a hike. ![]() |

Yeah, why would you horde movies anyway and not open them? Just take the stickers off and return them at wal-mart. BB is under no obligation to take back movies you bought over the past 6 months.

I was not hoarding movies. I had bought them to watch but didnt have a chance to.
Now with the death of HD-DVD, i am selling off my hd dvd collection and player. the only reason i went with hd dvd is the best buy employee in november pushed it over blu ray saying it was superior and blu ray would not last. I later got smart and bought the panny. I am only trying to get store credit on the 5 unopened hd dvds i purchased to buy some blu rays at best buy, I am not going to buy them somewhere else cheaper and I am not trying to take advantage of best buy in any way. |

i strongly suspect it's more the fact that it's HD DVD than anything else.
that's too bad, but perhaps you should have tried returning them sooner (i.e. before the toshi news). the fact that you never opened them certainly seems to indicate you were having second thoughts. perhaps you could unload them on some intransigent red ant on e-bay? |

i have brought stuff back over 30 days with no reciept. thats odd. if you have no reciept they are suppose to give you store credit. if you have a reciept then you would get your money back. i would bring all the stuff you bought in and say return my 5 movies and give me store credit or im returning all these items.

What about an instance where it was a gift? My Mom starts buying Christmas gifts in July already. That would put a disc well outside the 30 day window. If it is unopened and has a valid receipt, I feel they should most definitely take it back.

It was also so nice working at Best Buy when people pulled the "I've spent X amount of money here, so you should break your store policy" card. Especially for a case like this, where you're trying to return items that they're trying to get rid of as it is. There are thousands of people who have spent the same amount or more than you, so it's really not that big of a threat if they lose you as a customer. They don't care. If they do anything for you, it's just to get you to STFU and get out of their store.
And now it's Best Buy's fault that you bought into HD DVD and now regret it? ![]() Last edited by BStecke; 03-23-2008 at 04:59 PM. |

You spend all that money during the holidays and you never opened them? WTF?
You should be mad at yourself. It is your fault you left them unopened well past 30 days. And now you want Best Buy to take them back? Wow. Sell them somewhere else. You might get lucky by talking to a manager. But you are asking them to break their policies for your ignorance. |

Options:
-- Go to a different Best Buy. -- List the 5 BDs here on Blu-ray.com and try to sell or trade them. -- Sell them on eBay. -- Use a hair dryer to heat up the price stickers so they are easier to peel off Then go to Walmart to return them. -- Keep them and enjoy them. |
