As a whole, I'm sure they're still rolling in money from DVD and have plenty of potential revenue options with their upcoming nuclear power interests.

They should've never started in the first place, just because they didn't want to pay royalties to manufacture BD. Now, they are still being selfish by ignoring BD and focusing on SUC. I mean, SUC just uses MPEG2 codec and can only output 960p. All I need is an upscaling DVD player, and I've got the same thing. The fact that it'll play on DVD players will only prevent the SUC systems from being bought, resulting again in massive losses for the company. Just give it up already Toshy, you lost. Deal with it. You don't have to be sore losers about it, just make BD players already for gods sake.

And yet two weeks ago the projected figure was that HD DVD's demise was going to cost them $977m.
I'd like to know where these numbers are actually coming from. Last edited by Thegide; 03-19-2008 at 06:37 PM. |

Toshiba on March 19 revised its earnings forecast for the fiscal year 2007 (ending March 31), telling investors it would incur $665 million in losses for the year due to discontinuing the HD DVD business. In total, Toshiba stands to lose nearly $1 billion due to HD DVD’s demise. |

The people at Toshiba were just plain stupid for pushing an inferior product, and they're still trying to push another one. Sony makes better upconverting DVD players that do the same thing, why try to push SUC? Anybody know if Sony makes a good DVD/VCR combo with HDMI. I really want to get rid of my Toshiba player now.
