Default Foul language in movies

Does anyone know if there is a way with BD to turn off adult language? I have young children that some movies would be ok if not for the foul language. I know there is a box you can buy to hook up to your TV, called curse free TV, but the sound quality is poor on that. Does any BD players have this option?

Not available at this time. Thats what the movie ratings are for. You decide as a parent what is acceptable or not for your children to see and hear.

Yes I know that that is why I said there are some movies I would show if not for the language. But thanks for the info anyway.

I think trying to do that sort of thing causes legal issues. There was a group that tried to do that with DVDs, I think it was, but they had to stop due to legal issues. They were basically trying to provide familiy friendly edits. I just can't remember what the legal issue was at the moment though.

I know that when I worked at RadioShack we sold a filter that you ran the audio through and it cut all the foul language out

Crank has a family-friendly version included on the disc that has no swearing, but it still shows the sex scenes

I figured the family-friendly version of Crank would just be a blank screen.

I remember this. It was a DVD player that could edit out the language. I can't remember about the violent scenes but I know it cut out the bad language.

I looked into this it is called the TV guard or something, but it does not hve hdmi support, the best it does is s-video and rca. If they wee to make a good one the supported HDMI and there was not sound or picture lose I would get it in a heart beat.

Yeah we had gotten this, it was okay but was poorly made, it was an off brand name.

While I think that box is a good idea and all, once kids hit a certain age they are usually able to fill in the missing gaps with the inappropriate words. Just my opinion.

You would need closed captioning.

That's cool and all but lines for what is considered acceptable within movie ratings are becoming more and more blurred. Case in point, Fantastic Four: ROTSS is rated PG, but the Thing says "A$$" and Sue Storm says "Pissing Me Off". I'm no prude or anything but if I had kids it's certain things I would not want them to see or here in a movie.

Yeah, but I do not need to encourage that, time will do enough

Those boxes worked by looking for key words in the closed captioning

There's a DVD player with a feature called ClearPlay that you download filters for that will automatically mute at particular timecodes and skip parts depending on your ratings setting. This however makes for herky jerky movies

You're better off just waiting for them to go to bed, or better yet explaining to them that those words are not for polite company. They're going to know them all before they're 7 anyway, may as well learn about the (F)bombs and the bees from you than on the street
