Default Best Buy Gives You $50 For Your HD-DVD Player

Just came across this while browsing their website for some deals on blu-rays. If you purchased an hd-dvd player from best buy before feb 23 2008, they will give you a $50 gift card for trading it in to them!!! LOL. It's actually a good deal for someone that bought a dud player and wants to switch to blu. Smart move by best buy, I hope other retailers follow suit.

Wow, yeah I didn't even see that at first. That's even better, the consumer can keep their product and still get fifty bucks to purchase anything else they want from best buy. Kinda like their apologizing to them almost. LOL. Sorry if this was posted already, I didn't see it so mods feel free to merge threads.

Actually, according to Best Buy Sends HD DVD Owners Gift Cards they will be sending $50 cards to anyone they know bought an HD DVD player from them.

Quote:
Best Buy will proactively mail cards to all customers that the company can identify as having purchased an HD DVD player. Those include members of the Best Buy Reward Zone loyalty program and customers who purchased extended warranties or made their purchases on BestBuy.com. The gift cards are expected to arrive by May 1.

All other customers can call (888) BEST BUY to receive their gift cards with proof of purchase through a credit card or their Best Buy receipt, or visit www.bestbuy.com/hddvd for more information.
They expect to send out $10 million (200,000 players worth). So, BB is admitting to be a chief cause of the damn problem selling upwards of 25% of all the HD DVD players.
