Default Article - Don't buy a DVD player for your HDTV (buy a Blu-ray player)

http://hdguru.com/don%e2%80%99t-buy-...your-hdtv/312/

As usual a pretty good piece from someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

He also points out that with the current batch of HDTV's having much better pass rates with interlacing tests, that a DVD upscaler is basically a waste of money.

I'd have to agree - why get an upscaling DVD player when your TV does it for you?

And for just a bit more money, you can have a system that plays Blu-rays as well as upscaling dvds.

If you care to spend the money on a good HDTV it would only make sense you would do the same with your player and get a BD player.
The real issue are the masses, not those who care to pay for an HDTV or so it seems to me.
