Default Help buying BD player

Hello,

I'm new to this forum, so before anything else, hi.

Okay then... I am in the market for a Blu-ray player. I'd like to keep it as unexpensive as possible for a -decent-, no el cheapo.

Is region free already a possibility/reality with BD? That's very much a necessity for me, since I hop back and forth between South/North America and Europe.

I guess I could settle for a PS3, in case it is as good as a standalone player.

Thanks in advance

Many many many many MANY threads about this already, but here's the short.

Some stuff is region free, some isn't.

The PS3, right now, is the most capable player on the market, with only one glaring strike against it, that being the lack of support for DTS HD Master Audio (which should change soon, according to insiders). Other than that the PS3 is rock solid with the same or more features than any standalone. Unless you REALLY want a player that bitstreams the lossless audio formats, the PS3 is a no brainer (and it's the cheapest one out there).
