So I have a couple questions about TrueHD and the whole DialNorm thing that I was going to ask in the DTS-HDMA thread before things got out of control. I actually had all this typed and went to post and the thread was closed... Thanks Wicky! Geez!!!
![]() Anyway, my questions are, what is the point of DialNorm? I've heard that it's to better hide compression, is that true? Also, when/how is it applied to TrueHD tracks? Do they take a master, lower it however many db (I think it's ussually 4) and then encode the TrueHD track from that? I am not that smart when it comes to the whole TrueHD/DTS-HD aspect of things. I know how to get them decoded and all that jazz, but I don't know about the stuff behind the scenes which is why I am asking. |
