The CES is now less than 2 weeks away (Starts Jan 8) what will be the big thing at the CES this year
I Think Blu Ray will be everywhere. At least 10 New players / recorders not as yet announced. But they will be used as a media to demonstrate new recievers HDMI 1.3 and monitors all 1080p. But most interest will be on the announcements of New Blu Ray player and titles.

Blu-ray may announce something new in the players line, and maybe Panasonic will release its (so advertised) 100GB Blu-ray media finally (TDK also i hope)!

All things Blu-ray. Looking for players from Sharp, Pioneer, and LG. Couple this with a slew of Blu-ray announcements in regards to titles, you have a huge Blu splash in CES 2007.

I think 1.3 receivers will be the most welcomed due to the fact that it applys to Blu-ray and HD DVD. After that, I think, Blu-ray will be overwhelm all other CES news.

Actually, I prefer a mix.

A mix that includes HDMI 1.3 devices, 1080p displays as well as a few Blu-ray hardware as well.

1080p front projection was THE big item at CEDIA this year and is likely going to maintain as the big item at CES. Yes, we will undoubtedly have some stunning new announcements from HD DVD and Blu-ray as well as see some prototype HDMI 1.3 gear there.

But, the biggest areas will be dediacated to front projection setup of 1080p projectors. No less than a dozen companies have debuted this VERY high dollar item and they not only are stunning to see in action, but carry a price tag that might actually make some stores some cash.

I've never been to a CES though and I'd be interested to see how different it is from a CEDIA event considering the slightly different focus from custom install to a more consumer store type event.

I think we may see some huge announcements from Sony, Disney, AND Fox.

It's very interesting to contrast our poll results with those in a similar CES poll (about CE support) in the HD-DVD section over at the other place.

Here, almost all Blu-ray supporters are very optimistic that CES will be dominated by the BDA.

Over there, almost half of the diehard HD-DVD fans think that Toshiba will be going it alone amongst CE companies to support HD-DVD. They're starting to look pessimistic, especially regardings titles announcements. See Poll

If the BDA holds firm, and nobody moves to be format-neutral, AND there are some earth-shattering announcements for BD, I think that CES 2007 will be the last hurrah for HD-DVD.
