Default AVPR - speaker popping?

I heard the speaker popping for the first time in onkyo 805 while bitstreaming DTS-HDMA for Alien Vs preadator requiem through BD 30. Any body has that issues.I think its coming in the third or fourth chapter of the movie( in the chapter when the pizza guy gets beaten up)Any body with the same issues?

This issue reminds me of one of my guitar amps.

I spent 3 grand on a hand made amp that makes a huge popping sound when switching to channel 3.

When I called the company they were all "yeah man...s'totally normal...it's cool"

I'm like "A huge POP through my speaker...is NORMAL???"

There like "Yep...enjoy."

They f'n told me to ENJOY.

So I guess I have this issue to look forward to when I upgrade my receiver pretty soon???

Argh!?!?

Default Use LPCM instead of Bitstream

Hey this is not normal at all.. Onkyo had this issue fix with the Europe version of 805 or 705, i dont remember..,. the popping noise can damage the speakers while watching movies with dts-ma in bitstream.. I recommend you to watch dts-ma in linear pcm.

Just google it you will find the information about it. Im serious this is not normal while watching High Quality Audio Format on bitstream... it is better and safer to watch in LPCM!!

Some Pioneer and Onkyo receivers have a specific type of DTS processor that sometimes lets off the DTS bomb on rare occasions. It is not your disk. The regular theatrical version may not "POP"!

The firmware updates that are available are a bit more involved to perform and improve the overall performance of the receiver. Depending on the model and features available, several aspects will be upgraded or improved.

Although there is not a definitive list of bug fixes and improvements, end-user reports thus far have indicated that the Firmware update greatly reduces the delay in a/v sync when switching input sources. Additionally, overall HDMI handshaking appears to be more "stable". For the higher end models (like my SR-TX875) the ReonHQV video processor receives several new user configurable options like brightness, contrast and sharpness to apply to the upconversion process.

Firmware upgrade for most of the "05" Onkyo line involves the use of a straight-through RS-232 serial cable. Most computers produced in the past few years omit the external COM/serial ports, so you will either need a USB-Serial port adaptor or an add-on card.

Thanks for explaining it to me breach I will check it out..Thanks for your time

I watched this over the weekend and I didn't even hear the pop(?), so I guess everyone doesn't get the pop on their setup?

they also have a list somewhere of the offending dts ma discs that are known to have this pop when bitstreaming. they call it dts bitstream bomb. dts was suppose to implement a fix for future releases. i guess avpr just missed it.
