Default analog output of BD players full range?

Hi!
I have an old Denon receiver with 5.1 analog inputs with no HDMI input. I wan to buy a Blu Ray palyer and enjoy uncompressed audio. I read some that I still can take advantage of the uncompressed audio via these analog inputs on my receiver provided I have a BD player with internal HD decoder and with analog audio outputs. My question is, are these uncompressed PCM signals full range? Will I still need a bass manager like the outlaw ICBM in order for my small speakers not to received the full range signals?
Thanks.

The BD player will send the PCM "full range" to each channel unless it has bass management in the player. The Denon 3800 BD player decodes all lossless audio internally and can apply bass management in the player, but some receivers can apply bass management to 5.1 PCM sources also. Your receiver can't apply bass management to analog sources at all?

Thanks! No, it cannot apply bass management at all. It receives and just amplifies the signal as it is. So, do you recommend an outboard bass manager such as the ICBM in order not to damage my small speakers?

I have a samsung bd-p1400 bd player and it also decodes lossless audio(except DTS-MA) and has bass management in the player setup. Any player that has an internal decoder and analog outputs should have bass management.

I have a P1400 connected via analog to a Denon 3300. The P1400 has very limited bass management in that it allows the user to set "speaker sizes" only. There is no speaker “distance” setting, and it does not provide the 10dB LFE boost that normal bass management systems do.

The Denon 3300 does not have any bass management for the analog inputs, which is typical from all that I have read about older generation AVRs. The analog inputs completely bypass the DSP circuits, which is one of the reasons there is no BM.

Therefore, two things to keep in mind: 1) no speaker distance setting capability at all with this configuration (no big deal to me) and 2) you must turn up the analog LFE input at least 10dB to make the LFE channel sound close to the level of your other digital inputs. It took me a long time to figure out how to trim the analog input levels; the Denon Manual was not helpful at all. If you do not increase the LFE level, you will be very disappointed in the bass.

Having said all that, once the levels are all correct, the sound is great and at full range! (The only exception with the P1400, and most Blu-ray players, is that it will not decode a DTS HD-MA track, but only the "core”, which is still far better than standard DTS.)
