You're kidding, the Wii is surprisingly noisy considering it would be out-benchmarked by a toaster.

It also generates a lot of heat even on standby (yellow light).

the wii along with any other console for the tv with a fan in it has to be laid flat on a good surpface and away from carpet and tight areas

I don't understand the Wii hate. The system is great. OH NOES IT'S A REPACKAGED GAMECUBE. Who cares? The games are fun and the sales speak for themselves. I'm sorry that it embarasses every other company with its popularity. Get over hating it because it's functional and enjoyable, and therefore popular.

I bought a Wii on launch day. I grew tired of it and bought a PS3 in August. Have barely touched the Wii since, it's not even hooked up. I'm not a huge online player but Nintendo's approach to online is pathetic. PS3 just has so much more to offer. I don't hate Wii but I don't have a lot of good things to say about it right now, pretty irritated with Nintendo and the way they've gone about things.

I will agree with that. Nintendo took just about the worst possible approach they could to online.

I don't even compare the PS3 to the Wii. The Wii is a game system that is sold on the strength of its library of games, and right now it's working. Nintendo prints money. The PS3 is a system that is sold on its media capabilities and library of movies, with strong support upcoming for its games.

I don't know what Sony's stance is on the gaming aspect of its system, maybe it's still "The next gen doesn't start until we say it does," but I did really like Microsoft's stance of "We want to be the system that people turn to when they want to game more and the Wii is no longer serving their needs." I would hope Sony takes note of that message and tries the same approach.

I only played Wii for the first time on Easter, with my family of crazy New Yorkers... I don't look at it as hardware for the hardcore gamer. I think it's the perfect console for parties, just as long as people don't get so drunk they end up throwing the remote through the TV.

I prefer my PS3, but would LOVE to have a Wii to break out at parties.

I owned a Wii for a few months but sold it. The novelty of the controls wore off, and the lack of high def capabilities made me lose interest.

One thing the Wii/Nintendo does very well is make a game playable for all ages. Some people don't want to spend hours learning all the moves / maps / roads of a game, they just want to play a game for an hour or two.

I hear that a lot.

I want to get one someday for Smash Bros (and will probably get Mario Paper and Galaxy at the same time.)

Other than that, it doesnt hold too much interest for me, hence waiting so long to pick on up.

SOmeday, but no rush.

The only thing the Wii has going for it are it's first party games imo. Those are the only games that interest me for it.

Yeah, its a fantastic complementary system to a 360 or ps3, but leaves something to be desired otherwise.

Of course, I would say the same for the "hd" systems as well, unfortunately not all of my needs can be met by one system, not that they have been by one console since the days of the snes.

+1

What pisses me most about the Wii is the fact that its not HD. It burns my eyes. Seriously. I don't even want SSBB because of 480p being to crappy for me to enjoy.
