Default Klipsch RF-62 back speakers

Here is the recommended 5.1 setup from Klipsch.com:

RF-62 Floorstanders
RC-62 Center
RS-52 Surrounds
RW-12d Subwoofer

Question is, to make the setup 7.1 which two speakers should be added to the back?

RS-52 Surrounds
RS-42 Surrounds
RS-10 Surrounds
RB-51 Bookshelves
RB-10 Bookshelves

Are the size rules or the back speakers?

I have the Klipsch set up as follows,

RB-51- front L & R

RC-10- Center

RC-10- Surr

RW-10- SUB

Due to size, of room , But I was amazed how they sound , for a small system they rock hard & take all you give them .Now I do wish i could of gone up on the center chanl to the RC-52, but the space in my cabinet was to small, & i looked last Friday at the RS-42 & 62 for Surr. I think I will upgrade them to the RC-42 ,gettin a good price on them . But reallyyou can mix & match them all ,they work very well together , And they will blow your mind, The 10" Sub is Awsome.I use to have the Klipsch KSW-15 and it was nice , but really the little 10' sub Impressed me ..hope this helps ..You won't be sorry.

go with the RS52s or the 42s. I would get the 52s and just adjust them accordingly. the 52s are rated at 95db so they would match well.

What is this according to. I plan on getting this system as follows.

RF-82's Fronts
RC-62 Center
RB-81's Bookshelf
RW-12d Sub

With an upgrade to later 7.1 system with speakers i will later decide on. Yet, is there anything wrong with my choice in these speakers as a set?

I am going by Klipsch.com. This is what they recommend for RF-82s:

RF-82 Floorstanders
RC-62 Center
RS-52 Surrounds
RSW-10d Subwoofer

So what if i get the ones that i described above? Am i at a disadvantage or because i bought the better ones will it suit my system more? What exactly does it mean when they recommend it.

It seems to me that you are pulling what you think they are recommending from the related products section of the website. I don't understand where you are getting these "recommendations", you should be able to match any reference series to any other reference series speaker. To tell me that i have to buy a surround speaker over a bookshelf because it is listed in related products is idiocy.

I started this thread because I had a question regarding which back speakers to add to my setup. The recommendations I mentioned are straight from the Klipsch website. You can buy whatever you want to buy, I really do not care but don't jump in on other's conversations and start insulting people for no reason.

That is not their recommended setup for the 82 fronts. Its a combination of a bunch of their speakers that you can buy for a set, that by no means implies that it is their recommended or complimentary components. Yes you can buy whatever you want but dont say it is recommended, they by no means are saying we recommend these speakers over these speakers, if they were they would list some bookself speakers in their too instead of having just the surrounds. Idiocy.

The reason i jumped in is because the way you are wording these things is going to confuse other people. If you want an answer for back speakers just look at the midrange bookshelfs, its really not that hard.

there is recommended systems on the KLIPSCH site. example, you cant use the RC62 with RF63s or RF83s. The recommended center is the RC64 for timbre matching.

if you want specific rears, then just call their tech support and ask for Michael Colter or Steve Phillips.

Well thats obvious, who would buy a pair of speakers that are 1200-2200 dollars and buy a center channel for 300-400 dollars.

its all about timbre matching, as well as considering the diameter of the speaker woofer as well.

they matched those speakers to suggest which ones would work well with your current purchases. not supposed to be 'by the book' but it should be close to what you may want.

What does price have to do with ANYTHING ?

$400 vs $1,200 is 33%

My Center was about $750 compared to my fronts which were $3,000 so 25% or so....

So to answer you question,

I guess I'd have to say "ME" and I bought the center that matched the series, for what it's worth.

Well no shit there are center speakers that cost less than fronts, but what you fail to realize is that im talking about the specific series, and in the context of that series the better center channel is obviously the only choice when considering the front speakers he noted.

If you looked at my question more you would realize that my question is saying that you would of been stupid to buy the center that was 450 compared to the better one that is 750 which is obviously the better choice for your system.

but what one of the center channels, within that series, he should get, depends on the accoustics of his room....... I'm not really familiar with that line, so forgive me if I'm mistaken.

Well if the accoustics of the room are small it wouldnt make sense to get such huge floor standing speakers, none the less such a big center channel, which in the series the biggest center channel is 900$ and the thing is huge.
