COD4 NEW Patch TODAY! - Blu-ray Forum

Just went to play and was told theres an update. Im DLing now. Also looking to see if I can find the specifics on this patch.... MAYBE be the new maps? The size is 9958KB so I dont think thats big enough for that....

Infinity Ward's Community Relations Manager Robert Bowling lifted the lid on the upcoming patch, which will include the following list of features:

* Optimized servers
* New Kill cams (grenades, RPG's, airstrikes, claymores, and more)
* Quick Mute (allows user to mute annoying players by pressing X on their gamertag in the lobby)
* Addition of "Recently Met Players" for the PlayStation Network
* Improvements to the Sniper Rifles and Acog attachments (no more delayed shots)

Very happy with all of this. The Kill cams will be fun. The quick mute is A MUST with all the idiots that blare music or make noises or talk crap non stop. The recently met players thing is nice. And im VERY glad for the sniper rifle fixes. Cant tell you how many times I have said WTF I hit him in the head why is he not dead.

EDIT AGAIN: Anyone else getting error while they are trying to download the new patch? Or is it just me?

I'm far from being a PS3 hater or anything, or an Xbox360 Fanboy, but isn't this all stuff the Xbox version has already had? I know you can do the quick mute, and the recently met players has been a feature of Live since it came out.

Did the PS3 version not have the kill cams?

thats the thing, they are Live features, not game-specific features. Infinity ward just got lazy and forgot to add them to the PS3 version.

That being said, plenty of other games (resistance and warhawk come to mind) had quick mute and players met.

PS3 version did have kill cams. Just not for grenades and such.

Well the quick mute and the recently met players i believe is part of the xbox live thing not the actual game. PS3 has recently met players feature on some games but i believe its built into the game ( IE: NHL08). However I believe once Home is launched it will give us everything xbox live has and then some. Im almost positive Home will have its own version of "achievements" and trophies etc.

Either way who cares if Xbox had these already.....the PS3 does now

It did...the same ones that Xbox had until about two or three weeks ago I believe when Xbox got their patch update to include the new kill cams. And now we have ours.

On a sidenote...is anyone else having problems downloading the patch?

I gotcha. From what I've heard, Live seems like a better overall online experience, which is why I bought COD4 for Xbox and not PS3 (plus my best friend in NC still hasn't bought a PS3, the bastard). I guess I kind of take Live for granted, and the limitations of the Playstation online experience always sounds kind of disappointing in comparison. But, no matter what they use, I'm already anticipating my addiction to Metal Gear online!

Yah I like the players recently met, thats the greatest.

I hope the server optimization is something that can fix up all crappyness on getting into games and what not.

Well the only thing IMO that xbox live has over psn is the achievements..... and i could deal without them for the what 50 bucks a year or whatever for xbox live?

HOWEVER...like i said...just wait until HOME comes out. I have a feeling once its up and running smoothly it will destroy anything xbox live has to offer AND it will be FREE.

Oh man....someone has answered my prayers!!!! The mute player button is a god send. That alone would have been fine with me for a patch update, I could careless about killcams (I only care about those "how in the ****" kills).

So ive made it to 63% DLed and then error.... the rest have been like 0% and error or under 10% and error.... anyone else having this problem?

My buddy just downloaded it and it took like 30 seconds..he is online playing now

yeah well I just downloaded it and still nothing but "Downloading gameplay settings ... "

gonna go try it on my other ps3 and after that taking it back to bestbuy.

Reset your router and modem. that fixes it for me everytime I have that issue

From what I've heard, Live seems like a better overall online experience, which is why I bought COD4 for Xbox and not PS3 (plus my best friend in NC still hasn't bought a PS3, the bastard).
