Default Layer Change

I have looked all around. And can't find and answer to this. Is there a pause on a Blu Ray player if viewing a Standard DVD?

Considering there weren't pauses in most recent DVD players worth their salt, I can't imagine there would be. takes what, a couple of megs of storage to get over that problem? bwah.

It's a part of the Blu-ray specification to have seamless layer changes. Seamless layer changes means the user never notices there is a layer change on BD-50s. Hence there are no layer change pauses like there was with dvd. It is a possibility that pauses might arise from movies with branching cuts, though that has absolutely nothing to do with layer changes.

I think the OP was asking if a dual-layered SD DVD is played on a Blu-Ray player, will there be a pause at the layer change. And I think the answer is it depends completely on the player.

He's asking about DVDs played on BD players.

I personally haven't noticed any pauses, so I think they handle it.

I completely glossed over the part about standard dvds in the original post when reading it. Who watches dvds anymore? As others have said some BD players will have layer changes on dvds and some won't.
