Default PS3 and Godfather part 1 layer-change problem???

I searched the net and the forums here and couldn't find anything on this issue.

I just finished watching the blu-ray of Godfather part 1 on my PS3. At around the 1 hr and 30 min mark where Michael is leaving the restaurant after committing 2 murders the screen freezes for a bit then the disc skips ahead a bit and freezes again. I normally have to FFWD to get through the freeze/skip. The rest of the movie played fine. Does anyone know if this is where the layer-change is and if this is this a known issue with this disc? I've had no problems with any other movies. I have the most recent firmware (2.53) on my PS3.

Hmmm....just watched Godfather part II and again around the 1:45 minute mark of the movie (probably the layer switch again) where Michael kisses Fredo on the dance floor the disc freezes and skips ahead. Rest of the movie is ok.

(Note: I didn't get a replacement box set yet. This is the same set that part 1 acted up in.)

Try these discs on a BD player in Best Buy or something. See if it exhibits the same problem. If it does, exchange the discs. If it does not, fix the PS3.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm gonna give the discs to my brother to try in his Samsung blu-ray player to see what happens.

Good news...I went to WalMart and tested the Godfather disc there on a PS3 as well and the same problem showed up. I exchanged it and tested the new set at home and the problem is gone. Appears it was a faulty disc.
